Gretchen Kirkpatrick is a high school personal finance teacher in rural Indiana. But when she’s not teaching, she’s busy with her family running their amazing farm. This makes total sense, because Gretchen is an absolute ray of sunshine. She and her son Lucas are expanding their family’s crop and livestock operation into a flower farm with the long term goal of providing employment and opportunity for people of varying abilities. You can check out their work at Shawnee Meadow Floral on Facebook. In this episode, Gretchen is going to teach us a little bit about farm life, give us ways to explore farming for ourselves, no matter what your land resources look like, and teach us how to connect to our nearby farming communities.
Gretchen’s Adulting Mantra:
Adulting isn’t a destination, it’s a journey.

Saturday School is a monthly segment of the podcast, Now That I’m Not Your Teacher. While each week on the podcast we explore an aspect of adulting that you might have missed in your younger years, Saturday school is a little different. Our hope is to connect the valuable LIFE experience of teachers to you, because it’s not always relevant to their classrooms.
